The emblematic style and superlative performance of the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona have cemented its iconic status well beyond the motor racing circuits.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the watch, Rolex ensures the legend lives on by revisiting the entire range, through high-precision reworking that concerns the case and face as well as the movement. The numerous adjustments and evolutions are a reminder that the pursuit of excellence is a race with no finish line.
The dial receives new graphic balance with resized and restyled hour markers and counter rings. Subtle combinations of colours and finishes accentuate the contrast between the dial and the counters and/or their rings, bringing even greater visual harmony and a more modern demeanour to the face of the Cosmograph Daytona.
Graceful lines of light are elegantly reflected from the sides of its redesigned middle case. On versions with a Cerachrom bezel in ceramic, the bezel is edged with the same metal as the case.
On the version in 950 platinum, recognizable by its ice blue dial, the oscillating weight is made from 18 ct yellow gold and is visible to the wearer through the transparent case back in sapphire – a first for the Oyster Perpetual collection.
Platinum, considered the noblest of metals, is striking for its unique luminosity. This rare and precious metal is among the densest and most difficult to work and is noted for its exceptional corrosion resistance. Rolex uses only 950 platinum, an alloy consisting of 950 ‰ platinum and a specific dose of ruthenium, with meticulous finishing in-house.
The Cosmograph Daytona is equipped with calibre 4131. This new chronograph movement, entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex, is an evolution of calibre 4130. Unveiled in 2023, it incorporates a number of the major innovations that Rolex has brought to its movements, including the Chronergy escapement to reduce energy loss (among other advantages); Paraflex shock absorbers to protect the heart of the movement; and an optimized ball bearing to enhance self-winding.
This calibre features a new aesthetic for the brand: a cut-out oscillating weight and, on the bridges, an exclusive Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration – a reinterpretation of an iconic finishing in traditional Swiss watchmaking.
Rolex is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race with an original version of its legendary chronograph. Crafted in 18 ct white gold, this new watch sports a Cerachrom bezel in black ceramic; on the tachymetric scale, the number ‘100’ in red ceramic evokes the race’s centenary. Standing out against the bright black dial are intense white counters whose graphic design is inspired by a traditional Rolex dial. The Oyster case is fitted with a transparent back and an Oyster bracelet. This original timepiece is equipped with an exclusive movement, calibre 4132, which allows the hours of the chronograph function to be counted over twenty-four hours – another nod to the race – instead of the model’s usual twelve. This movement incorporates the Chronergy escapement, Paraflex shock absorbers, and bridges decorated with Rolex Côtes de Genève. The cut-out oscillating weight in 18 ct yellow gold is fitted with an optimized ball bearing. Like all Rolex watches, this special version of the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona carries the Superlative Chronometer certification, which ensures excellent performance on the wrist.
