Congratulations Carlos on your 1st Grand Slam® title

In a breakout year, Carlos Alcaraz has once again showcased his power, athleticism and relentless energy on the court for all to see. His start to the season was nothing short of spectacular, claiming four ATP titles in three months. Now the young Spaniard has soared to new heights to be crowned a Grand Slam® winner at one of the world’s biggest tennis tournaments, the US Open. At just 19 years of age, he is the youngest player to become World No. 1 in ATP Rankings history. A player who embodies the drive and determination to win, he is part of the next generation of champions ready to perpetuate the history of excellence in tennis. Rolex congratulates Carlos on his outstanding victory in New York.

US Open
An electric atmosphere

Rolex and tennis

A summer night’s rite

In the Arthur Ashe Stadium, the stands tower above the court. With a seating capacity of 23,500 – by far the largest court in Grand Slam® tennis – the centrepiece arena is a veritable ‘lion’s den’ during big matches with its ultra-charged atmosphere. Many matches are played in the evening in the sizzling ambiance of a New York summer. This is what sets the US Open apart and champions must feed on the exuberant energy in the stands and overcome their tumultuous surrounds. This contrasts with the much more hushed experience at Wimbledon two months earlier. The last Grand Slam® tournament is seen as the climax of the season by both players and spectators, attracting an impassioned crowd of almost 750,000 every year.

US Open partner

Since 2018, Rolex has been the Official Timekeeper of the US Open, the last tournament in the Grand Slam® calendar.

Chris Evert
The prototypical tennis champion

Chris Evert was just 17 when she reached the semi-finals of the US Open for the first time. She went on to win the tournament six times. With victories at the Australian Open (2), Roland-Garros (7) and Wimbledon (3), she is one of the few champions to have triumphed on all the Grand Slam® surfaces.
