Lady-Datejust

The Classic Feminine Watch

  • Timeless
    Elegance

    Design

  • The Lady-Datejust offers so many choices that wearers can easily find one to reflect their personality. It is available in Oystersteel, in 18 ct yellow or Everose gold, or in Rolesor versions that combine both Oystersteel and 18 ct gold. The Lady-Datejust is also presented in the noblest metal of all – 950 platinum.

  • A fluted, domed or diamond-set bezel? Exclusive, shimmering dials paved with diamonds or the fascinating hues of mother-of-pearl? Simple or gem-set hour markers, or even Roman numerals? The many faces of the Lady-Datejust make this model one of the most varied in the Oyster Perpetual collection.

  • Everose gold. This exclusive 18 ct pink gold alloy – created and cast by Rolex – features a slightly stronger colour than standard pink gold and exhibits subtle bluish tones. Its sophisticated and contemporary colour resonates particularly well with Rolesor versions, a combination of Oystersteel and 18 ct gold.

  • 1927
A Rolex advertisement oriented towards women
    with active lifestyles.
  • Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf was a man ahead of his time. At the beginning of the 20th century, wristwatches were perceived as fragile and often seen as jewellery for women. Hans Wilsdorf was determined to offer women, as much as men, a choice of modern, reliable and accurate wristwatches that were robust enough to accompany them as they pursued increasingly active lifestyles.

    Rolex’s first Testimonee.
  • In 1926, Hans Wilsdorf created the Rolex Oyster, the world’s first waterproof wristwatch. The following year, to prove the timepiece’s reliability and demonstrate its qualities, he equipped a young English endurance swimmer Mercedes Gleitze with an Oyster for a swim across the English Channel. After more than 10 hours in the water, the watch emerged in perfect working order.

    Rolex combines glamour and precision
  • In the 1930s, the Oyster became a very sought after watch for both men and women. Early advertising promoted the watch alongside a wide variety of other timepieces, from wristwatches for daily wear to gem-set models.

  • 1957
    The first Lady-Datejust
  • Lives changed rapidly over the following decades as men and women engaged in more active lifestyles. In the 1950s, Rolex unveiled a chronometer – a watch with certified accuracy – specially created for women. Another landmark in watchmaking.
