The Perpetual Planet Initiative supports three major fields of action: ocean conservation, wilderness protection and the preservation of the living world.
Rolex is committed to supporting explorers, scientists and organizations across the globe working in the field to better understand and protect our planet.
Some of these organizations are long-standing partners, such as the National Geographic Society or Sylvia Earle’s Mission Blue. The Rolex and National Geographic Perpetual Planet Expeditions document the effects of climate change in remote and particularly vulnerable areas. With over 160 Hope Spots, Mission Blue is contributing to the global aim of safeguarding 30 per cent of the ocean’s surface area by 2030.

Rewilding Argentina and Rewilding Chile, two offshoots of Tompkins Conservation, are protecting landscapes in South America; Under The Pole is pushing back the boundaries of underwater exploration; Steve Boyes and the Great Spine of Africa Expeditions are exploring the continent's major river basin; Coral Gardeners is transplanting resilient corals to reefs; photographers Cristina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen are working tirelessly to raise public awareness on environmental issues.
The Rolex Awards, now part of the Perpetual Planet Initiative, have supported 160 Laureates all around the world who confront the major challenges facing the planet and who develop innovative solutions.
