His generosity, charisma and passion inspire his many philanthropic endeavours, in addition to his acclaimed operatic appearances and recordings.

A journey of talent and dedication

Born in Lima, Peru, Juan Diego Flórez has graced the stages of the world’s most prestigious opera houses.

He studied at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Peru before continuing his education at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Flórez’s breakthrough came in 1996 when, at the age of 23, he debuted at Teatro alla Scala in Milan and received critical acclaim. His career has since flourished, with performances at the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Ballet and Opera and Vienna State Opera among others. Known for his agility and vocal virtuosity, Flórez has earned widespread acclaim for his performances in the operatic works of Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini.

His contributions to opera extend beyond his performances. Flórez’s philanthropy reflects his belief in the transformative power of music. He actively supports music education through his Sinfonía por el Perú foundation, which provides musical training to underprivileged children. This social inclusion programme has proven that music can instill values, transform and enhance lives.

Since 2022, Flórez has been Artistic Director of the Rossini Opera Festival. He became a Rolex Testimonee in 2015.
