Film at Lincoln Center

The art of cinema

New York’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is dedicated to celebrating cinema as a vital art form, offering the chance to explore works by both renowned and emerging filmmakers from around the globe. Established in 1969, the institution is committed to supporting the art and craft of moviemaking and nurturing filmmakers at every stage of their careers. Rolex has supported Film at Lincoln Center since 2025, as the Official Partner of the New York Film Festival and Chaplin Award Gala.

An international celebration

Film at Lincoln Center’s annual New York Film Festival (NYFF) is a pivotal international event, celebrating the most significant releases of the season. Playing a vital role in shaping film culture since it began in 1963, the festival’s partnership with Rolex champions cinema in all forms, from fostering new and emerging talent, to celebrating the best filmmakers on the planet.

In addition to the NYFF, which features a highly curated selection of international motion pictures, Film at Lincoln Center presents retrospectives, special screenings, and educational initiatives throughout the year. The Chaplin Award Gala, established in 1972, honours lifetime achievement in film, with past recipients including some of cinema’s most influential artists.

Its theatres, including the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center and Walter Reade Theater, serve as vital venues for cultural exchange and cinematic exploration.

In 2025, Film at Lincoln Center honoured Rolex Testimonee Martin Scorsese with the world premiere of Mr. Scorsese, a five-part documentary chronicling his life and career, as part of a weekend of dedicated tributes at the New York Film Festival. Rolex mentors have also been prominently featured, including Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
