Arguably the best Swiss women’s golfer to swing a club, Albane Valenzuela has a multicultural background as the daughter of a Mexican father and French mother.
With a strong amateur record, including participation at the Olympic Games and the NCAA Championships – the top competition in United States college golf – Valenzuela is poised to become a significant player in professional golf.
A performance to watch
Albane Valenzuela began playing golf at a young age, demonstrating her potential early in her career.
She represented Switzerland at the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Olympic Games, showcasing her skills on a global stage. Valenzuela’s impressive amateur career was distinguished by her performances at prestigious tournaments, including reaching the finals of the U.S. Women’s Amateur twice, in 2017 and 2019. She played college golf at Stanford University, graduating in 2020 with a degree in political science, and was named Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2019. Valenzuela turned professional late that year after earning her LPGA Tour card and quickly established herself as a formidable competitor.
Some of her other notable amateur achievements include being a Ping/WGCA First Team All-American and receiving the WGCA’s Edith Cummings Munson Award for excellence in academics among top collegiate female golfers. Valenzuela also co-founded the charity Alexis For Autism, named after her brother, highlighting her commitment to giving back. In 2023, she secured her best finish in a major championship to date, tying for fourth at the Chevron Championship. On the back of a strong 2024 season, Valenzuela was a wildcard selection for the 2024 Solheim Cup team.
