Oyster Perpetual

Timeless form and function

Oyster Perpetual

Displaying hours, minutes and seconds, made exclusively of Oystersteel and featuring a sophisticated finish, these are chronometer wristwatches in their purest form.

Chromalight display

The Oyster Perpetual models feature a Chromalight display: the hands and hour markers are coated or filled with a luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions.

Oyster Perpetual

The watches benefit from all the fundamental features of the Oyster Perpetual collection – excellent chronometric precision, a waterproof Oyster case, and self-winding of the movement via a Perpetual rotor.

Oyster Perpetual

Specially developed for the brand, Oystersteel belongs to the 904L steel family, alloys most commonly used in advanced-technology fields such as the aerospace and chemical industries. Oystersteel is particularly corrosion-resistant, offers an exceptional sheen and maintains its lustre even in the harshest environments.
The Oyster bracelet is a perfect alchemy of form and function, aesthetics and technology. First introduced in the late 1930s, this particularly robust and comfortable metal bracelet with its broad, flat three-piece links remains the most universal bracelet in the Oyster Perpetual collection. For the Oyster Perpetual models, the Oyster bracelet is fitted with an Oysterclasp, as well as the Easylink comfort extension link, which allows the wearer to easily increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, for additional comfort in any circumstance.
The Oyster Perpetual is available in five sizes – 28, 31, 34, 36 and 41  mm – providing the largest choice of diameters for a Rolex range. Its Oyster case, which is made from Oystersteel, is fitted with a domed bezel.

Perpetual rotor

In 1931, Rolex unveiled a self-winding mechanism with a free rotor designed for use in a wristwatch. Known as the Perpetual rotor, this patented system comprises a half-moon-shaped oscillating weight, which rotates in both directions whenever the wearer moves their wrist, winding the mainspring. This component stores and constantly releases the energy it receives, which enhances the precision of the regulating organ.

Calibres 3230 and 2232
Superlative movements

The Oyster Perpetual 41 and the new versions of the Oyster Perpetual 36 are equipped with calibre 3230, a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex, launched by the brand in 2020. At the forefront of watchmaking technology, this self-winding mechanical movement led to the filing of several patents, and offers fundamental gains in terms of precision, power reserve, resistance to shocks and magnetic fields, convenience and reliability. It is equipped with a self-winding module via a Perpetual rotor. Thanks to its barrel architecture and the escapement’s superior efficiency, its power reserve extends to approximately 70 hours.
Unveiled in 2020, calibre 2232 is a new-generation self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Fitted with a Syloxi hairspring in silicon, patented, it offers a superlative level of chronometric performance. Insensitive to magnetic fields, the Syloxi hairspring provides great stability in the face of temperature variations and remains up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks. Its patented geometry ensures its regularity in any position.
