Testimonees

There can be little doubt about what makes a Rolex Testimonee.

These players and the Swiss watchmaker share a perpetual ambition for excellence and superior performance. Their number includes today’s established champions, athletes whose skill and application have earned them a place at the pinnacle of the professional game.

The Tiger Slam

Tiger Woods has captivated the golfing world since winning the 1997 Masters Tournament in his first Major as a professional. For more than a quarter of a century, the Rolex Testimonee has continued to thrill audiences with his peerless skills and dedication to the ancient game. In 2019, he completed one of the most remarkable comebacks in the history of sport when, aged 43, he once again triumphed at Augusta National Golf Club to capture his fifth Masters title, bringing his Major tally to 15, second only to Jack Nicklaus (18). Among his stellar achievements, Woods has been ranked World No. 1 for more weeks than any other golfer, and in winning the 2001 Masters, he became the only player to win four consecutive Majors, a feat known as the Tiger Slam.

I was very fortunate to be given another chance to do something that I love to do.

The Big Three

Arnold Palmer. Jack Nicklaus. Gary Player. Their faces are easy to recognize, their achievements legendary. Combined, they won 34 Majors. With thrilling play and boundless charisma, they brought their love of golf to millions and made the game what it is today.

The big three

Rolex was ever-present on The Big Three’s incredible journey of high achievement and inspiration, having formed a seminal partnership in 1967 with Palmer, joined by his two great friends and rivals.

Gary Player

We had this wonderful competition among the three of us. But, at the same time, when one of us won, the other two would put their hand out and say: ‘Well done, you beat me today, but I’ll get you tomorrow.’ It was a very healthy rivalry, one of gentlemanly conduct.

In 1994, I was Rolex Rookie of the Year on the LPGA Tour, and it feels so close, as if it happened yesterday. It was in that year that I realized that I made the right decision to turn professional. Finally here I was on the biggest stage, the biggest tour in the world for women.
